Breaking Through the Black Boxes: Sparking Student Engagement Online In-Person
Staring at a sea of black boxes on Zoom? You're not alone. In this interactive workshop, participants will explore evidence-based strategies for fostering meaningful student engagement in online synchronous settings. In this session, we'll discuss how to create an online environment that genuinely motivates students to invest in their own learning journey. Through interactive activities and collaborative discussion, we'll explore the challenges (and some benefits) unique to teaching on Zoom. You'll learn: How to welcome students and their interests into your course; strategies for building community and peer-to-peer engagement; and tools and approaches for increasing student-student interaction in and out of Zoom breakout rooms. Come with your unique experiences, wisdom and challenges to share. Leave with a toolkit of strategies for your next class session or course offering. All Temple instructors and staff are welcome!
