SUMMARY:Breaking Through the Black Boxes: Sparking Student Engagement Online
DESCRIPTION:Staring at a sea of black boxes on Zoom? You're not alone. In 
 this interactive workshop\, participants will explore evidence-based 
 strategies for fostering meaningful student engagement in online 
 synchronous settings. In this session\, we'll discuss how to create an 
 online environment that genuinely motivates students to invest in their own 
 learning journey. Through interactive activities and collaborative 
 discussion\, we'll explore the challenges (and some benefits) unique to 
 teaching on Zoom. You'll learn: How to welcome students and their interests 
 into your course\; strategies for building community and peer-to-peer 
 engagement\; and tools and approaches for increasing student-student 
 interaction in and out of Zoom breakout rooms. Come with your unique 
 experiences\, wisdom and challenges to share. Leave with a toolkit of 
 strategies for your next class session or course offering. All Temple
