Book Group: The Amateur Hour: A History of College Teaching in America by Jonathan Zimmerman (Hosted In-Person at the CAT) In-Person

This fascinating survey of higher education in the US provides much-needed context for and perspective on the challenges currently faced by educators and post-secondary institutions today. The Amateur Hour explores how individuals trained as researchers have adapted to teaching and to the fluctuating landscape of higher education over the past two centuries. Author Jonathan Zimmerman, Professor of History of Education at the University of Pennsylvania, will join for the September 29th session.

This 3-part book group will meet in person on the following dates:

  • Thursday, September 15: 3:30-5:00 PM
  • Thursday, September 29: 3:30-5:00 PM
  • Thursday, October 13: 3:30-5:00 PM

Registration for the first session will serve as registration for the subsequent sessions.

Registrants will receive a complimentary copy of the book. Books are available for pickup at the CAT reception desk (TECH Center, Suite 112). Once registered, please stop by to claim your copy.
