Teaching Circle: Effective and Equitable Assessment in Large Classrooms (Hosted Online via Zoom) In-Person

Providing students with meaningful opportunities to demonstrate how well they’re learning course concepts—without leading yourself into grading purgatory—presents some unique challenges in large-sized classes. The sheer volume of grading deters us from providing frequent assessment opportunities or assessment that is more holistic in nature. Yet, the more rote type of assessment may open the door to academic dishonesty. Join us for this 4-part roundtable discussion where we will explore these challenges and brainstorm together opportunities for implementing meaningful and equitable assessments that help all students self-assess, demonstrate their learning, gain confidence, and learn from each other more effectively.

This 4-part teaching circle will meet once a month via Zoom on the following dates:

  • Friday, September 17, 12:00pm-1:00pm
  • Friday, October 8, 12:00pm-1:00pm
  • Friday, November 5, 12:00pm-1:00pm
  • Friday, December 3, 12:00pm-1:00pm

Registration for the first session will serve as registration for the subsequent sessions.
