Methods for Evaluating Teaching Series - Introduction: Creating a Departmental Culture of Effective Teaching In-Person
Evaluation of teaching is used to assess teacher competence and make decisions on promotion and contract renewal. But a good multimodal teaching evaluation protocol is part of a comprehensive professional development program that emphasizes teacher learning and growth and the importance of faculty excellence for rich student learning. This workshop will explore ways to create a departmental culture that encourages and supports effective, evidence-based teaching. The series will then continue with an exploration into various teaching evaluation methods that can be used to both assess teacher competence and grow teaching excellence.
