Decolonizing the Curriculum (Co-sponsored with the CHAT) In-Person

Good teaching means regular reflection upon and reevaluation of our course goals and content, and being thoughtful about what perspectives and voices we may privilege in our course readings, assignments, and activities. To design a course that represents in a more balanced manner the lived experiences, histories and perspectives of all peoples, we can “decolonize” our curriculums: afford more equitable space for a variety of peoples, allow only those in power to speak, and be open to alternative modes of inquiry or exploration. In this two-part series, the first session will consider the benefits to this approach to curriculum design; the second will be an opportunity for revising and workshopping your syllabus in order to decolonize it.

This workshop is held in two sessions:

  • Thursday, November 5 | 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm
  • Thursday, November 12 | 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm

Registration for the first session will serve as registration for the subsequent session.
