Methods for Evaluating Teaching Series - Using Well-Designed Peer Review of Teaching to Improve and Evaluate Instruction: A Departmental Team Clinic In-Person

Standards-based peer review, done well, assesses teaching competence, improves teaching effectiveness, and builds community as colleagues offer each other ideas and feedback. It can also combat potential over-reliance on student evaluations as the sole measure of good teaching. Organize a departmental team and work together to create or revise peer review of teaching protocols and instruments that will support your collective work as educators. Teams will commit to all four meetings and receive a sourcebook full of advice and model evaluation instruments.

This workshop is held in four sessions:

  • Wednesday, September 30, 3:00-4:30pm
  • Wednesday, October 14, 3:00-4:30pm
  • Wednesday, October 28, 3:00-4:30pm
  • Wednesday, November 11, 3:00-4:30pm

Registration for the first session will serve as registration for the subsequent sessions.

Each attendee will receive a complimentary copy of Chism’s Peer Review of Teaching.  Attendees will be contacted about book distribution.

The facilitator will send an access link to this webinar via email prior to the session.
