Teaching Critical Thinking: A Better Question Method In-Person

Critical thinking is something all instructors value, but what does “critical thinking” really mean? How can we know when our students are thinking critically? We want our students to leave our classes not just with useful knowledge but also with habits of mind that allow them to succeed in new situations. But sometimes we lose sight of the fact that outside of the learning environment, solutions are reached by inquiry rather than appeal to the judgement of a classroom authority. In this three-part workshop we will look at ways of transforming our classroom spaces into places where good questions are valued alongside correct answers.

This workshop is held in three sessions:

  • Series Session 1: Friday, September 20, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am
  • Series Session 2: Friday, September 27, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am
