Light Reading Group on Punk Pedagogies In-Person

Oi! Looking for teaching inspiration that eschews the easy answers of the establishment? That embraces the do-it-yourself ethos of learning at its best? That resists slick corporate solutions and pie-in-the-sky idealism? Then it may be time for you to get punk! This light reading group will meet twice, each time discussing a short reading on applying the lessons of the punk movement to our classrooms.

Together, we’ll explore how punk pedagogy can foster creativity, agency, and critical thinking in our students—while building a supportive community of educators who aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo. Come ready to share ideas, question assumptions, and maybe even discover a new anthem for your teaching practice. All Temple instructors and staff are welcome!

No prior punk knowledge required. Mohawks optional.

This two-part book group will meet in person on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, September 9, 10:00 - 11:00 AM
  • Tuesday, September 16, 10:00 - 11:00 AM

Registration for the first session serves as registration for the subsequent session. The facilitator will share reading material with registrants prior to the first session.
