Teaching Immigration Today: A Roundtable Discussion In-Person

Immigration is a defining feature of the United States, yet the topic engenders strong passions. Teaching topics around immigration, whether in General Education or in a discipline, has always been challenging, but the rapidity of social and political changes in our current era has intensified emotions and increased the complexity of navigating these topics.

Join us for two roundtable discussions on how to teach immigration effectively.  In the first session, we will meet to share the concerns we bring to the classroom,  to unpack the challenges and successes we have experienced, and to establish topics to explore. In the second session, we will discuss strategies to implement to make our classroom discussions and assignments a rich learning experience for students in diverse and potentially charged environments. All Temple instructors and staff are welcome.

Facilitators: Stephanie Fiore, Associate Vice Provost and Senior Director, CAT; Patricia Moore-Martinez, Associate Director of General Education, CLA
