Neurodiversity: What it is, Why it Matters, and How it Might Show Up in Your Classroom In-Person

All brains are unique, and this variation is a natural part of being human. Inclusive teaching takes into account the ways we all process and perceive information slightly differently. But what specifically does it mean to identify as neurodivergent rather than neurotypical? How do these variations in how we learn impact our students, and what can we do to support them in all their glorious neurodiversity? This session will guide you through a brief history of neurodiversity, why it matters that we understand our students' differences within this framework, and how we can ensure they are learning and succeeding in our courses. Come with questions, leave with ideas! All Temple instructors and staff are welcome.

Facilitators: Elizabeth White Vidarte, Online Learning Specialist, CAT; Carrie Snyder, Director, Disability Resources and Services (DRS); Melissa Glenn, Faculty Fellow, CAT
