Beyond Talking Heads: Tools and Techniques for Fostering Active Learning in Synchronous Online Classes In-Person

Ready to break through the digital wall and change your Zoom classroom from a one-way broadcast into a dynamic learning space? In this hands-on workshop, you'll experience firsthand how to turn "Zoom fatigue" into "Zoom engagement" through practical, easy-to-implement active learning strategies. We'll explore techniques beyond the basic breakout room, showing you how to create meaningful interactions that keep students thinking, participating, and learning. Together with your colleagues, you'll explore ways to creatively promote student collaboration, design activities that work even when cameras are off, and keep up the energy during virtual discussions by fostering genuine connection and student-to-student interactions in virtual space. Come prepared to participate! Leave with a toolbox of ready-to-use strategies that will have your students motivated to Zoom in. All Temple instructors and staff are welcome.
