Can We Really Talk? Session 2: Political Polarization, the Presidential Election, and Preparing for Challenging Discussions (Hosted in person) In-Person

Join us if you have questions and concerns about navigating conversations about controversial topics and HOT (heated, offensive, and tense) moments in the classroom during politically polarized times. In this session, seasoned Temple faculty share their strategies and advice so that you can be proactive and prepare yourself and your students for productive conversations about the upcoming Presidential election and other current events. Faculty will have the opportunity to create discussion guidelines together, work through scenarios, and find community and support for managing challenging teaching moments.

Facilitators: Matt Wray, Associate Professor of Sociology, CLA; Nyron Crawford, Associate Professor of Political Science and Faculty Fellow in the Public Policy Lab, CLA; Robyn Kolodny, Professor of Political Science, CLA; Linda Hasunuma, Associate Director, CAT
