Light Reading Group: "The Psychological Drivers of Misinformation Belief and its Resistance to Correction” (Online via Zoom) In-Person

Please join us for this Light Reading Group discussion of Ecker et. al.’s recent article on the cognitive, social and affective factors that contribute to belief in misinformation and that are barriers to knowledge revision. This article equips readers with a more comprehensive understanding of why misinformation spreads and is so difficult to prevent and dispel, and reviews the efficacy of interventions that can be adapted for our classrooms. Faculty members will be given access to the article in Perusall a week prior to the meeting time where they will be able to annotate the article and engage with others’ annotations. Faculty in time zones that make it difficult to attend the meeting are welcome to engage only in the Perusall discussion.

Facilitators: Caitlin Shanley, Coordinator of Learning and Student Success, Temple Libraries; Dana Dawson, Associate Director of Teaching and Learning, CAT
