Asynchronous Online Teaching Institute: 2-Week Intensive Summer Cohort In-Person

Are you looking for ways to provide students with a rich, interactive, and engaging online learning experience that enhances their learning? The Center for the Advancement of Teaching is excited to announce its new Asynchronous Online Teaching Institute (AOTI) that is now open for registration to all faculty members at Temple. It is designed for both new and experienced online instructors who are interested in designing and teaching an online course that helps students succeed.

The AOTI is cohort based and is led by a CAT instructor. In order to provide flexible options that work for your schedule, you have the choice to register for a 4-week cohort or for a 2-week intensive cohort. Both options are completely asynchronous and do not include live meetings so that you can complete the activities on your own time. Since these two options are both cohort based, you will have the opportunity to discuss and learn from other faculty members in this cohort as well.

Upon successful completion of the AOTI, you will be able to:

  • Reflect on the role of the instructor in establishing an online learning community.

  • Identify methods of engaging and motivating learners in an online course.

  • Explore key elements of online course design.

  • Align goals with assessments and learning activities.

  • Apply evidence-based practices for effective teaching and learning in an online learning environment.

Register here for the following 2-week intensive asynchronous cohort:

  •  Monday, July 27th, 2020 until Saturday, August 8th, 2020

In the event that we have a waiting list for this cohort, faculty who have not yet completed the Teaching Online Short Course will be given priority.
