Level Up! Gamification in Classes In-Person

Humans love to play and learning is meant to be fun! “Gamification” describes the process of leveraging the human need for play in order to motivate behavior. In this workshop, we’ll examine the fundamental design elements of games--such as competition, autonomy, and rewards--and how they relate to motivation. Then, we’ll look at how to integrate these elements into class activities in order to increase student engagement and encourage formative assessment. We’ll explore technology tools to facilitate gamified activities as well as provide strategies for gamifying lessons
