This one-hour workshop helps instructors make complex visual materials more accessible and usable for all learners. You will explore practical strategies for presenting static visual course materials such as charts, graphs, diagrams, maps, infographics, handwritten notation, and screenshots in ways that communicate essential information clearly. The session focuses on how to decide when alt text is sufficient and when to use long descriptions, figure/image captions, surrounding text, data tables, or alternative formats to provide fuller access to visual content. Participants will leave with practical approaches for making complex visuals easier to understand, navigate, and use in their courses. We encourage registrants to bring a complex visual they use in their teaching. This workshop is a great refresher for those with prior CAT accessibility training and as a first step for those just getting started. All Temple faculty and staff are welcome.
