Can We Really Talk? Addressing the Mental Health Needs of Asian American and Asian International Students at Temple In-Person

Temple has a growing and diverse AAPI and Asian international student body (15% of our enrolled students), yet their mental health needs often go overlooked. Cultural stigma, family and gender expectations, the pressures of the “model minority myth,” and rising anti-Asian and anti-immigrant sentiment can heighten their sense of stress, anxiety, and isolation. In this session, students from Temple’s AAPI and Asian international communities will share their experiences, mental health needs, and the ways they found support and belonging through classrooms, student organizations, and campus resources. Join us to learn more about how we can create a welcoming and supportive learning community for our AAPI and Asian international students--and all of our students at Temple. This session of the Can We Really Talk? Series honors AAPI Heritage Month (which is in May) and advances the university’s health and well-being initiatives. All Temple instructors and staff are welcome!

The Can We Really Talk? Series is co-sponsored with the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL). This event will take place in IDEAL's space, Tuttleman Learning Center 100D-1.
