Discussion Bored? Enhancing Online Asynchronous Discussions In-Person
Discussion boards are commonly used for engaging students online. However, many instructors feel they lack the substance of a face-to-face classroom discussion. In this session, we will begin by exploring strategies that help students engage and connect with each other online. We will then examine prompts that encourage deeper discussion, promote higher-order thinking and require students to take on new roles. This interactive session will ask participants to reflect on their own courses and consider how these strategies may apply in their courses or discipline.
