Unflattening by Nick Sousanis In-Person
In Unflattening, Nick Sousanis questions the merit of language as the primary (or sole) mode of meaning-making and knowledge acquisition. Putting his money where his mouth is, Sousanis creates a scholarly comic that explores the ways image, and perhaps by extension sound and shape, supports deep learning of concepts and information. In this reading group, participants will closely examine this vibrant text with an eye to how its approach might enliven their own teaching, not only better serving traditionally marginalized learners, but creating a comprehensive learning experience for all students.
